A Dog to ignore
We decided to finally get the kids a puppy for Christmas. We actually got two, both from the same litter, both pound dogs. We were told they were part Shephard and part Chow. They were very cute at first and then we realized they were too temperamental to have around the children. If their food was in sight of the two of them they fought ferociously. Even as puppies I had a hard time pulling them apart. The last day we owned them both, the deciding factor on giving one up was the bites and claw marks that I received from pulling them apart. The scars I still have on my chest and arm. We decided to keep the solid white one we called Lucky. Smart decision since he is a very intelligent animal. He was retrieving a ball at 6 months and knew the command for stay also. He is a very good dog but needs lots of exercise and attention. I notice if a day goes by that he does not get to go out then he acts up and gets in trouble. We thought about sending him to obedience school but really cannot afford it. If the times we take him out get any further apart then we may have to give him to a good friend who will show him the love and attention he needs. If we decide to adopt him out then we will not get another animal. It is the best decision for our family. |
